Wake Forest freshman forward Al-Farouq Aminu, one of the most athletic players in the ACC, will return to the Demon Deacons next season. Aminu averaged 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in his first season in college, and he projected to be a likely top 10 pick in the NBA Draft. In a university press release, Aminu explained his decision to return.
“In order to end further speculation, I am excited to announce my return to Wake Forest for my sophomore year,” said Aminu. “My experience at Wake Forest has been terrific. I have grown as a student, as a person and as a basketball player. The NBA is a dream of mine, but my family and I feel like now is not the right time.”
With Aminu returning, the Demon Deacons will have a solid foundation to build on. Sophomores James Johnson and Jeff Teague declared for the draft, though Teague did not hire an agent. If he returns, Wake Forest promises to have one of the most talented rosters in the conference.
