Gonzaga sophomore forward Austin Daye announced that he will test the NBA Draft process this spring. Daye will not hire an agent, so he will still have two years of remaining eligibility. One of Gonzaga’s most athletic players, Daye averaged 12.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game to help the Bulldogs cruise to another West Coast Conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance. Daye explained his goals for the draft process in a university press release.
“Basically I want to test the waters to see what my future might entail,” Daye said of his decision. “I definitely had to sit down and talk to my family about my decision. If a great opportunity presents itself I might have to lead that path. A lot depends on these workouts.”
The workouts Daye referred to will come following the end of the school year May 8 when he returns home. “I will go home right after the end of the school year and work out with a personal trainer on my physical body and basketball skills. I’ll be doing a variety of things to get ready for the tryouts with NBA teams.”
