Georgia Tech sophomore forward Gani Lawal has entered the NBA Draft to evaluate his status. Lawal said he does not plan to hire an agent, which means he can return to school. Lawal averaged 15.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the Yellow Jackets this past season. Mock drafts had Lawal projected to go as high as the lottery earlier in the season. However, Lawal struggled in conference play and his stock fell as low a projected second-round pick. Lawal explained his move in a university press release.
“I intend to put my name in the draft and go through the interview and workout process and see where I might fit in,” Lawal said. “I want to keep my options open for staying at Tech, but I think it’s important to gather all the necessary information.”
