Washington: Romar Hires Chillious as Assistant

Washington coach Lorenzo Romar has hired Raphael Chillious as an assistant coach. Most recently, Chillious worked for Nike as the company’s business manager for Elite Youth Basketball in Beaverton, Ore. He has coaching experience at South Kent School, a prep school in Connecticut. A university press release highlights some of Chillious’ accomplishments.

Chillious began his career in 1997 as an assistant coach at the University of Victoria in Victoria, B.C. He is a 1996 graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and registered a 3.4 grade point average as a senior He also served as a captain of the Lafayette basketball team.

During his career at South Kent, Chillious coached three players who are currently playing in the National Basketball Association – Josh Boone (New Jersey Nets), Dorrell Wright (Miami Heat) and Andray Blatche (Washington Wizards). He has coached nearly 40 players who have advanced their careers at NCAA Division I schools, including current Huskies Isaiah Thomas and Matthew Bryan-Amaning
