The NCAA has imposed one of its strictest punishments on Centenary for failing to successfully progress student-athletes to graduation: the Gentlemen are ineligible for post-season play next season. The team scored consistently below 900 on the NCAA’s APR standard for academic progress. If the team does not improve, the NCAA could strip the Gentlemen of their Division I status. Although the post-season ban is a significant measure, it likely won’t matter much for the Gentlemen — since the NCAA started measuring the APR in 2004, Centenary has won only 35 games in five seasons and no more than 10 in any season.
