For next season, Mississippi State is now only one scholarship over the limit of 13 after junior forward Jacquiese Holcombe announced that he will transfer. He averaged 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game this past season. With the addition of recruits Renardo Sidney and John Riek, the Bulldogs had 15 players set to receive scholarships next season, two over the NCAA limit. Holcombe’s departure clears space for Sidney, a much-heralded recruit whose eligibility as an amateur player remains in question. Mississippi State still needs to find someone else to forfeit a scholarship for one reason or another.
