Former Toledo forward Anton Currie pleaded not guilty to charges related to an alleged gambling scheme. According to the charges, Currie participated in a points shaving scheme that benefited Ghazi “Gary” Manni and Mitchell Karam, who bet more than $400,000 on Toledo games. Currie played all but three games for Toledo from 2003 to 2006. He was primarily a reserve with the Rockets, averaging no more than 18.9 minutes per game in a season. Six other Toledo football and basketball are named in the charges, which do not specify what the players allegedly received in return.
