Hartford coach Dan Leibovitz has hired Rick Brunson as an assistant coach. Brunson was director of basketball of operations at Virginia for the past two seasons after playing in the NBA for nine seasons. A university press release mentions some of Brunson’s career highlights.
Among the teams he played for were the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle SuperSonics.
He also worked with the Denver Nuggets as an assistant coach, involved in player development, from January through April of 2007.
Brunson played his college basketball at Temple, under Hall of Fame head coach John Chaney, before embarking on a professional basketball career.
