Big 12: Conference Sports Make Record Revenue

The Big 12’s sports programs netted $130 million in revenue for the 2008-09 academic year, conference officials announced at the Big 12’s spring meetings in Colorado Springs. The conference will divvy that revenue among its 12 programs. The $130 million is 14.5 percent more than last year’s previous record of $113.5 million. Conference officials credited this year’s success to the conferences competitive success in multiple sports, especially football as Oklahoma and Texas played in BCS games. The conference also received a boost in TV ratings and fan attendance.
