Radford junior point guard Amir Johnson is facing felony charges of breaking and entering and grand larceny, a report from the Roanoke Times stated on Thursday. Johnson, who helped the Highlanders to the NCAA Tournament last season, was indicted for breaking and entering into the residence of ex-teammates, seniors Martell McDuffy and Jamar Jenkins, May 5. The grand larceny indictment charges Johnson with stealing $200-plus in properties from their place. Radford policy suspends athletes charged with felonies from practice and games until the legal issues are resolved.
Radford coach Brad Greenberg refrained himself from talking about Johnson, who averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 assists per game in 2008-09.
“We will not comment until legal proceedings have run their course,” Greenberg said in a statement.
