After undergoing surgery in early June to stop internal bleeding, BYU coach Dave Rose received word from doctors that he has pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor cancer.

Colorado State coach Tim Miles announced that the Rams have added forward Travis Busch to their roster. Busch graduated from Minnesota in May but has one remaining year of eligibility.

Duke freshman forward Olek Czyz will need four weeks of rehab after having surgery to remove loose cartilage in his right knee. Czyz averaged 0.6 points and 0.9 rebounds per game.

Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun fell while riding in the Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride Saturday, breaking five ribs, then collapsed after completing the race. Calhoun hit a pothole and fell about 35 miles into the ride.

Karen Cunagin Sypher, a woman accused of trying to extort Louisville coach Rick Pitino, said was “set up” and will “prove my innocence,” although she fears that a fair trial will be difficult because of Pitino’s rock star status among Louisville residents.

Eddie Sutton will get his due and be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Oct. 4. Sutton is a native of Bucklin, Kan.

Former Illinois star Frank Williams and his brother were arrested June 10 after police found 78 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and a .40 caliber handgun.

The Knights have named Greg Vetrone as their interim coach. Vetrone replaces 26-year Knights’ legend Tom Green.
