Kentucky will be looking for lawyers licensed to practice in Texas to help it battle former coach Billy Gillispie’s $6 million lawsuit, according to an Associated Press report. A legislative panel agreed to aid by paying up to $100,000 in the case.
Gillespie filed the suit against the university in a Texas court, saying he’s owed the amount for getting fired two years into a seven-year deal. However, Kentucky officials said Gillispie never signed a formal contract, so it owes him zilch.
