According to a Charlotte release, Jamar Briscoe, the second-highest scoring freshman in Division I basketball last season, has transferred from North Carolina Central to the 49ers. He’ll sit out 2009-10 and have three years of eligibility left after next season.
The 5-10 Briscoe averaged 17.8 points, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game in 2008-09. He was named Independent Newcomer of the Year and Heritage Sports Radio Network Rookie of the Year.
Briscoe had a career-high 37 points against Longwood Feb. 28 in one of the few wins NC Central had for the year. The Eagles went 4-27.
