Bowling Green hired Dennis Hopson to be an assistant coach to Louis Orr, to whom the university gave a two-year contract extension, according to an Associated Press report.
Orr won the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year award last season after guiding the Falcons to a regular-season conference championship in his second year with Bowling Green.
Orr will look to build on that success with Hopson at his side. The new assistant comes to Bowling Green after working with legendary coach Rollie Massimino at Northwood University in Florida for the past two years, according to a Bowling Green press release.
“Dennis brings a strong passion for working with and developing young people, along with a great love for the game of basketball,” Orr said. “He’s very hands-on with the student-athletes and, because of his vast basketball experience at all levels, he can relate to them. Dennis has been where they are and also where they want to go. He’s very organized in his thoughts and his direction. He understands the game and can teach the game. He’s skilled in the areas you need to be skilled in to be a productive collegiate basketball coach today.”
