Power forward Shamari Spears won’t be able to play in Charlotte’s season opener Friday against UNC Asheville because of an undisclosed team violation, according to an Associated Press report.
Spears, who sat out last season after transferring from Boston College, scored 26 points and made all 12 of his free throw attempts in an exhibition win last week.
The 49ers will also be without forward An’Juan Wilderness (calf injury) and Gokhan Sirin (suspended) against UNC-Asheville.
