Virginia senior forward Jamil Tucker informed coach Tony Bennett that he needs to take an indefinite leave of absence to handle some personal matters, according to a university press release.
Tucker won’t practice or play with the team while he is on leave. He averaged 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game last season as one of the Cavaliers’ key reserves.
His loss diminishes the Cavaliers’ depth in the frontcourt with sophomore center Assane Sene suspended for three games to start the season.
