Iowa coach Todd Lickliter is recovering from surgery to relieve headaches that will force him to miss the Hawkeyes’ game at Northern Iowa Tuesday, according to a university press release.
Iowa Sports Information Director Phil Haddy did not specify the reason why Lickliter needed the surgery. However, He did not have an aneurism, he did not have a stroke, he did not have a heart attack; he did not have anything along those lines,” Haddy said.
Haddy added that Lickliter told his wife that he hopes to return to the sideline for Iowa’s Friday night match up against in-state rival Iowa State.
While Lickliter recovers, assistant coach Chad Walthall will serve as head coach. During a press conference today, Walthall focused entirely on Northern Iowa, which is 5-1 and is favored to beat Iowa.
