With their 67-52 win on Tuesday night, Providence improved to 10-2 on the season. The record is nice, but it doesn’t tell the whole story in more ways than one. This team is showing improvement, while the record is also a little deceptive.

Around The Horizon League: Week 6
Butler Bulldogs (5-7): Butler began the week with a matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers at Conseco Fieldhouse. Having struggled in the early part of the season, the Bulldogs probably weren’t given much of a chance by most observers against the Boilermakers. Summing up some of the magic that has helped […]
Harvard has gone from hunter to hunted
Harvard has gone from being the hunter to the hunted. The Crimson will be favored to win every game left on the schedule except possibly their road date with Princeton, and have to be ready to take opponents’ best shot.
CBS’ Doyel has the guts to step back from the controversy trap
A UAB transfer has dragged Saint Joseph’s and coach Phil Martelli into a messy, public spat, and too many people are eager to take sides.
The coaching carousel continues for the Big Sky
Merry Christmas, and thanks for playing. Word came out today that Idaho State coach Joe O’Brien resigned from Idaho State this afternoon on the heels of a 2-8 record. O’Brien was head coach of the Bengals since 2006 and in his first three years, led the Bengals to the Big […]
Northeastern needs answers in the backcourt, and fast
Northeastern’s 71-62 loss to Princeton was their fourth straight game with 20 turnovers, all of them losses. It’s a sign of a larger problem, as the Huskies need answers in the backcourt soon.

UNH’s win over Marist just what they needed coming out of finals
Saturday’s 73-56 win over Marist was just what New Hampshire needed in several ways. The Wildcats did it with their offense helping their defense, for one, as that’s been an area where they haven’t always played well. They also got a very balanced effort all the way around. It also came after a break for final exams, and one never knows what a team will be like in that first game after it.
Has Northern Arizona found its spark?
People scoffed and laughed when 70-year-old Dave Brown was hired to replace Mike Adras, (who’s own story on the resignation is taking strange turns)who suddenly resigned after a 2-7 start. (Full disclosure: so did I.) Um, a few less people are laughing today after the Lumberjacks beat Arizona State on Saturday […]
Boston College more confident as finals come to a close
It hasn’t been a banner season for Boston College if you look solely at the bottom line. Going beyond that, there’s a feeling that this team is growing and it seemed evident the last time out.
