BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Georgetown defeated eleventh-ranked UCLA to advance to the Legends Classic championship game. The 78-70 victory is broken down in tempo free numbers. In a 71-possession game the efficiencies were:
Georgetown 110
UCLA 99
The Bruins dominated the offensive glass 16-6 with an edge of 38-17 in offensive rebounding percentage. Georgetown coach John Thompson III, true to the Princeton background, saw his team as noted, struggle on the boards. They did, like a vintage Princeton team, shoot the ball very well. That was the difference as Georgetown led 61-45 in eFG percentage. The Hoyas canned 7-of-14 from beyond the arc.
Markel Starks of Georgetown led the way with 23 points. Freshman guard Jordan Adams, UCLA’s leading scorer at 23.5 ppg, led the Bruins with 22 points. Another UCLA freshman, Kyle Anderson out of prep power St. Anthony’s (Jersey City, NJ) had a tough homecoming. Anderson played 33 minutes with no points and 0-6 shooting from the floor.
