Before the storm hit the New York metropolitan area, St. Peter’s found the visiting Jaspers too much a force to weather. It was the type of game that has snagged a few conference favorites – an early road game against a team capable of knocking off a good team at home.
The key possession numbers:
Possessions | Offensive Efficiency | |
Manhattan | 74 | 100 |
St. Peter’s | 73 | 86 |
In improving to 3-0 in the MAAC, Steve Masiello’s Jaspers set a brisk pace. Their efficiency was right on the money while the defensive mark was clearly impressive. St. Peter’s, still winless in conference play (0-3), was too careless with the ball in showing a 23% turnover rate. A number of that proportion is crucial in trying to beat arguably the conference favorite.
Key Four Factor number: Effective field goal percentage. Manhattan’s eFG mark was 46%, while the home standing Peacocks struggled at 33%. That low eFG number went a long way toward explaining their 86 efficiency.
Individual Honor: George Beamon of Manhattan. The senior swingman scored a game-high 28 points while setting the pace with 10 rebounds. Beamon was a perfect 14 of 14 from the line.
