A number of games were pushed to another day by a storm on the east coast, but we had plenty of noteworthy games all the same on Saturday.

We’ve written a few times this year about Texas-Arlington and Arkansas-Little Rock, two of the most surprising teams in the country and squads that could be legitimate NCAA tourney at-large contenders in March based on their stellar non-conference performances. Alas, their first meeting of the season on Saturday was muted, and it wasn’t because of a snowstorm.

Michigan State lost at home to Nebraska Wednesday night 72-71 for its third loss in a row. So it’s time to worry about the Spartans, right? No way. Not a chance.

If there was any temptation to dismiss the NCAA Tournament chances of Georgetown, North Carolina State and UNLV, all three provided reasons Tuesday why you shouldn’t do that yet. The night was emblematic of this never-count-a-team-out season, as these perennial NCAA Tournament contenders earned unlikely victories.
