Welcome to the latest edition of College Basketball Tonight, where Ted Sarandis and Phil Kasiecki break down the NCAA Tournament with special guests. The first weekend is in the books, and we look back on the first 52 games with a few major highlights included.
We begin with a special guest in Joe Lunardi, who is synonymous with Bracketology for good reason. While there are now a few others out there who do this, Joe is the one who made this a big deal and became famous for it, and he isn’t slowing down. We look back on the memorable game on Sunday between Duke and UCF, then turn Aour attention to some matters with this year’s NCAA Tournament field. Included are some of the considerations of geography and seeding, along with the NC State situation, the Pac-12 getting three bids even in what was a bad year, as well as the rash of teams with losing conference records and the role of conference play.
After that, we welcome Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol and begin by talking about his program, which has become a steady winner in Conference USA. They had some challenges and close calls this season, but have reason to be optimistic for next season based on the work they did this time around. Eric then offers his insights on some of the matchups coming up later in the week, coaching styles, what’s happening in the coaching profession nowadays and a little about scheduling.
Finally, we return for a quick look at some of the more than 30 coaching changes in Division I thus far, as well as thoughts on all of the regional semifinals coming up on Thursday and Friday.
We hope you enjoy the show and share it with your fellow college basketball fans. Be sure to tune in next week for more on the NCAA Tournament and more special guests.
