Welcome to the latest edition of Talking Hoops With Ted Sarandis. Two weeks into the season, we’ve seen a few teams and trends that are worth expanding on, and that forms the base of this show.
The first topic is the polls, which have seen a big shift since the season began, as tends to happen. Early matchups tend to lead to a lot of movement as perceptions change fast with small sample sizes, and a couple of early games have played a role in that. We talk about how Kentucky appears to have played their best game in the opener, while fellow SEC school Florida is off to a so-so start as well. Along the way, we get into how some of this may be attributable to the too-early start to the season, as well as a seeming lack of TV games thus far.
We then get into an amazing performance last Thursday by a guy who wasn’t supposed to play, Seton Hall senior Myles Powell. All week the talk was that he would be out for a while, then he almost lifted the Pirates to a big win over Michigan State.
Later, we look ahead to some of the early season tournaments that get going later this week and will take over the college basketball landscape until the end of Thanksgiving weekend. By the time the weekend comes, we’ll have a bunch of good games to keep an eye on.
We hope you enjoy the podcast and share it with your fellow college basketball fans. Be sure to join us again soon for more on college basketball as the early season tournaments take over the landscape for the next week and a half.
