NCAA: Rules Committee Approves Three Changes
Starting with the upcoming season, the NCAA will have a more NBA-like feel. The Rules Oversight Panel adopted three rules changes that borrow from ones that the NBA already has in place regarding charges, free throw shooting after fouls and replays for determining flagrant fouls.
Memphis: School Officials Talk Violations With NCAA
Memphis officials attended a hearing that the NCAA Infractions Committee held to discuss reported violations and the academic record of a former player, believed to be Derrick Rose. School officials reiterated their stance that the team should not vacate any of the 38 wins from the 2007-08 season.

Colorado State coach Tim Miles has hired Randy Baruth to be director of basketball operations. The two worked together at North Dakota State from 2002 to 2004 when Miles was the Bisons’ coach.
Fairleigh Dickinson: Knights Fire Green After Down Years
Fairleigh Dicksinson fired coach Tom Green June 4, ending Green’s 26-year tenure. During that time, Green led the team to a 407-351 record, seven seasons with at least 20 wins, four NCAA Tournament appearances and two NIT appearances. However, the Knights finished 7-23 this past season for their third consecutive losing season.
Tennessee-Martin: Campbell Resigns After Audit Reveals Violation
Tennesse-Martin coach Bret Campbell resigned June 4 after a university audit revealed that he deposited more than $20,000 in checks from summer basketball camps to a personal account instead of a university account. Campbell worked at Tennessee-Martin for 10 years and compiled a 125-167 record.
Memphis: Dozier Joined Tigers Despite Suspicions of Cheating
Robert Dozier, a Memphis senior forward who recently graduated, joined the Tigers in 2005 despite a tainted academic history that led Georgia to deny him admission.
Memphis: Pastner Hires Nuggets’ Scout
Memphis coach Josh Pastner has added Jack Murphy, a scout for the Denver Nuggets, to the Tigers’ staff as an assistant coach. Pastner worked with Murphy when they were at Arizona.
NCAA: Membership Costs Less in 2009-10
The NCAA will not require schools to pay $900-$1,800 in membership dues for 2009-10 to help them reduce costs during the recession. The Executive Committee decided to suspend the dues for all members of Division I, II and III.
