Mississippi State junior forward Jarvis Varnado has removed his name from the NBA Draft to return to the Bulldogs for his senior season. Varnado averaged 12.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game.

Virginia Tech sophomore guard Hank Thorns announced that he will leave the Hokies to transfer to another school. Thorns averaged 2.7 points and 2.4 assists in 18.9 minutes per game.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino said in an official statement that he is not interested in taking the Sacramento Kings’ coaching position, despite reports that his representatives recently contacted the Kings. The rumor mill has worked overtime during the past few days about who is talking to whom about the Kings’ coaching position.
SMU: Former Coach Tubbs Dies
Former SMU coach Jimmy Tubbs, 60, died May 5. The school did not announce a cause of death. Tubbs was the Mustangs’ coach for two seasons and had a 27-30 record.
Duke: Henderson Won’t Return
Duke junior swingman Gerald Henderson has decided to sign with an agent, ending his collegiate eligibility. He averaged 16.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Kentucky: Patterson Postpones NBA Career
Kentucky sophomore forward Patrick Patterson has decided to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft and return to school and play for new coach John Calipari. Patterson averaged 17.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Alabama: Coleman Ready to Move On
Alabama senior forward Yamene Coleman has decided to leave the Crimson Tide when he graduates in May even though he a remaining year of eligibility. Coleman averaged 3.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
LSU: Johnson Kicks Graham Off Team
LSU coach Trent Johnson dismissed freshman Delwan Graham for violating team rules. The reserve forward averaged 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.
Marquette: McMorrow Leaves Basketball Without Ever Playing for Golden Eagles
Marquette sophomore center Liam McMorrow will leave the team because of medical problems. The 7-footer will remain at Marquette to earn his degree.
