Georgia Tech sophomore forward Gani Lawal has entered the NBA Draft to evaluate his status. Lawal said he does not plan to hire an agent, which means he can return to school. Lawal averaged 15.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Florida coach Billy Donovan has hired Richard Pitino as an assistant coach, replacing Shaka Smart. He is the son of Louisville coach Rick Pitino, who coached Donovan as a player at Kentucky.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino filed a complaint with the FBI in March that he was a target in an extortion scheme. The woman associated with the investigation is the estranged wife of Tim Sypher, who is a member of Pitino’s staff and a longtime friend.

Mississippi coach Andy Kennedy returned to Cincinnati to handle legal problems that were a result of a December 2008 incident with a cab driver. Court documents indicate that Kennedy could settle a criminal charge of assault, avoiding a trial that could produce a sentence as long as six months in jail.

St. Mary’s guard Patty Mills will enter the NBA Draft without an agent, meaning the sophomore is eligible to return to the Gaels. Mills averaged 18.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

Arizona junior guard Nic Wise announced that he will declare for the NBA Draft. Wise said he will not hire an agent, so he will be eligible to return to Tucson if he doesn’t like the feedback he receives from NBA scouts.
