At the end of last season, it looked like this could be a long season for a long-time powerhouse out west, but maybe that won’t be the case. Plus more Big Ten play includes the end of a tough week for one team, while out west another team is handed their first loss of the season.
For the second straight night, a mid-major pulls off their second win of the young season over a Power 5 school. Also, another big game from a Golden Eagle who’s done it before, a tough loss that could have been a win for the Cardinal, and more early Big Ten games get played.
The defending Big South champions are grabbing the spotlight at a different time of the year than might usually happen, and doing so with defense. Plus Big Ten play gets underway with road wins, while a Big Ten team playing out of conference gets another double-double from its big man.
There was plenty of drama and a lot of good basketball, and in the end the ACC/Big Ten Challenge ended up even. Plus Big East teams add wins, a Bonnie is finally back in action, and a couple of monster games with teams on opposite ends of the bottom line.
With early season tournaments mostly behind us, we look back on a few of them and some of the big stories from them. Also, some key injuries have occurred, plus the sport continues to be challenged to get attention in November and December.
After a bad night to be on the road in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, they’re knotted at four wins apiece with one night to go. Plus a few key injuries include a couple of SEC teams and a suspension won’t help one Big Ten team’s depth.
As the fun of in-season tournaments largely comes to an end, it’s a great day for one particular conference. Plus one team that beat the champs keeps winning, as does a team that has had some potential and might be ready to turn a corner again.
For the second time in three days, a big-time matchup for a tournament championship was at least as good as advertised. Plus several more tournament final matchups are set, a concerning development in Nashville, and a first loss of the season in a blowout.
With two championship games on tap, one was won by a team that needed it and another was not. Plus the tournaments continue with some entertaining games out west, a captain will move on, and another big pickup for a new head coach.
It was almost a great day for the Big Ten as a few championship games took place. Plus a roundup of tournament action as a few finish up, as well as a few showcases and a couple of scores and stat lines that might jump out at you ahead of a great week loaded with tournament action.
