Friday night was the beginning at EYBL Hampton, with a relatively light night of action. We have notes on a few players from the opening games to get us started.

The spring travel circuit is getting started, and the Playaz Spring Fling was a good early stop as it usually is during the Final Four weekend.
Freshmen carried Duke to the national championship
As expected, freshmen led the way to the national championship, even if it wasn’t the team many expected to be standing in the winner’s circle before the season.

It all comes down to one game, between two teams projected to go far and two teams who met earlier this year. That earlier meeting doesn’t really give us much to go on, though.
Shaka Smart now tries to take Texas to another level
Shaka Smart wasn’t going to leave VCU for just any job, and turned down overtures from a number of programs in recent years. Now he found one worth leaving for, and he’s fundamentally the same guy he’s always been.
What Kentucky gave us will be forgotten, and that’s too bad
Most people are going to remember Kentucky in 2014-15 more for the one loss than the 38 wins and the journey that came with it. That’s the most unfortunate thing of all.

The NCAA Tournament continued to bless us with great games on Saturday night, one of which will be remembered more than the other for obvious reasons.
A happy resolution comes in Delaware
There has finally been a resolution to Monte Ross’ contract situation, and it’s a happy one for the Blue Hens’ head coach and his staff after the work they have done to rebuild the program.
