Those buying into the overhyped storyline about college basketball being unwatchable this past season could’ve found their antidote if only they watched a little bit more of Stephen F. Austin and the Southland Conference.
Conference Notes
2014-15 America East Post-Mortem
The America East had a very familiar look at the top this season, in more ways than one. Will that change in the foreseeable future?
2014-15 Sun Belt Post-Mortem
Seemingly in a perpetual search for an identity due to so many membership changes in recent years, the Sun Belt Conference found one in 2014-15 as a conference that provided a little of it all.
2014-15 Big West Post-Mortem
The Big West entered 2014-15 poised for a very good year, and it eventually got there, albeit in a very roundabout way.
2014-15 CAA Post-Mortem
The CAA was not only as competitive as ever in 2014-15, but also quite successful, with the most postseason teams in several years.
2014-15 WAC Post-Mortem
New Mexico State continues to be the class of the WAC and thoroughly dominated the league this past year after some early season injuries.
Final Arch Madness Notes: MVC still in good hands in St. Louis
When Creighton departed the Missouri Valley Conference for the Big East, the levels of worry from some on the outside ranked from concern to alarm that both the MVC and its signature Arch Madness men’s basketball event were in trouble. Despite the doomsday predictions of some, though, the league and the event continues to roll with the punches and comes out strong at the end.
Semifinal loss at Arch Madness does not diminish Loyola’s improvement
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (March 7) – Sometimes, in order to fully appreciate a team’s season, one has to take a look at what was expected of them before it. In the case of Loyola (Ill.), if one would’ve told Rambler fans before the season that their team would win 19 games and advance to the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, they would’ve been tickled pink.
Northern Iowa shows another side in winning MVC title
The book on Northern Iowa, or at least the popular one anyway, is that the Panthers this year are a really good team because of their defense and Seth Tuttle. Little is said of its offense, but let it be known: Northern Iowa is pretty darn good on that end, too.
Illinois State surprises Wichita State, on cusp of something special in MVC
Illinois State coach Dan Muller said it was going to take a player having a special day to defeat top seed and No. 8-ranked nationally Wichita State in his team’s semifinal Saturday at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. It was senior Daishon Knight who delivered, scoring 25 points in a masterful performance as the Redbirds shocked the Shockers 65-62.
