Appalachian State coach Buzz Peterson has hired Jamie Kachmarik and Jason Capel as assistant coaches to join holdover assistant coach Matt McMahon.

During a press conference June 24, BYU coach Dave Rose said he is hopeful that he will successfully recover from pancreatic cancer, which he was diagnosed with earlier this month.
Kansas State: Former Sharpshooter Gets Call to Kansas Hall of Fame
Steve Henson, a UNLV assistant coach and former Kansas State star, will be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in October.
USC: Former Trojan Arrested for Alleged Carjacking
UPDATE: Prosecutors declined to charge former USC player Stais Boseman (1993-97) with carjacking after he was arrested as a suspect June 21. Boseman averaged 16 points and 4.1 rebounds per game during his senior season at USC.
UCF: Knight Assistant Takes Over at Newberry
UCF assistant coach Steve DeMeo is now the new head coach at Newberry College, a Division II school in South Carolina between Columbia and Greenville. DeMeo spent the past season at UCF after spending 10 years on Tim Welsh’s staff at Providence.
Tulsa: Golden Hurricanes Extend Wojcik’s Contract
Tulsa coach Doug Wojcik has agreed to a two-year extension from his original contract and will stay with the Golden Hurricanes through the 2014-15 season.
Saint Louis: Billiken Reserve Moves On
Freshman center Brett Thompson will leave the Billikens and transfer to another program. He averaged 11 minutes per game in 30 games.
Radford: Johnson Charged With Larceny
Radford junior point guard Amir Johnson is facing felony charges of breaking and entering and grand larceny. Johnson averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 assists per game.
USC: Trojans Pick O’Neill
USC wanted to find a coach with success at the collegiate and professional level, and the Trojans found their man in former Arizona coach Kevin O’Neill. USC hired the man who led one of the Trojans’ main Pac-10 rivals to the NCAA Tournament during the 2007-08 season.
