The NCAA’s changes to allow time in June for players to be evaluated with their school teams was well-intentioned, but reality is a little more complicated. Plus a light night of game action, a heart procedure appears to have gone well, and a longer deal for a coach in North Carolina.
The AAC’s unsung quality program, Tulsa has had a great start to December and continued it Thursday against New Orleans. Also, San Francisco continues its early-season roll, Wisconsin rolls and two overtime games on a short schedule.
Houston showed the poise of a tough, tested team in rallying from 15 down against talented LSU to stay unbeaten. Plus, Chris Mack continues forming Louisville with a tough win over Lipscomb, Murray State impresses on the road, and Temple and UMass resume a classic series.
A long stretch of dominance in Philadelphia has come to an end. Plus double-doubles help a couple of teams win, a quiet 10-2 start, and a couple of key players will miss some important action
Marshall was one of the early darlings of the NCAA Tournament a year ago, but the Thundering Herd have work to do to get back to the standard of last year’s team at the end of the year. Also, a recap of Monday’s light action.
Tennessee pulled off a big win on Sunday, and it reminds us of the great career their coach has had to this point. Plus the Longhorns snap a losing streak and the Pac-12 has another bad day of results.
After Saturday’s loss, what do we make of Kentucky at this point given that they have lost to their toughest opponents while beating up on worse teams? Plus lots of rivalry games were on tap, while one school couldn’t travel for their game and saw it canceled.
Friday night was another bad one for the Pac-12 as it has not improved much from last season. Plus a transfer will have to sit after all and wait to play, plus one more big night from a big man who has put up many of them.
Texas has now lost three straight and will be challenged to reverse course quickly. Plus a feel-good story in the Big Ten, a close call in Philadelphia, a triple-double in Chicago, and a great game to close out the night.
The Jimmy V Classic was another good doubleheader, with the second game telling us more about one team and its growing pains than the other. Plus one team brings a four-game losing streak into a long final exam break, another loses a big man, and blowing a big lead and losing the game makes it a bad loss.
