Road teams ruled the games on tap in the Gavitt Tipoff Games, which has quietly become a nice early season event. Plus no surprise with a couple of SEC home wins, a close call with another SEC team’s flight, and one Blackbird had a really nice night to continue a good start.
It wasn’t even Big Monday yet but Kansas and Kansas State were busy and received challenges-maybe unexpected ones to some. Also, Buffalo wins on the road again and enters the already highly debated national rankings.
The young talent at one SEC school showed up in a big way and has made a nice impression early on. Plus injuries hurt their opponent’s depth, and two high-scoring guards lead the way in a nice mid-major battle.
On what will be one of the lightest Saturdays of the season, a buzzer-beating shocker in Charlotte stands out. Plus a couple of Mountain West teams lose openers at home, some big individual performances, and wild fires cause one game to be postponed.
A busy night featured several mid-majors picking up nice road wins against high-major opponents. Plus a busy night in the SEC sees a few teams pull their games out, some good mid-major matchups were on tap, and the NCAA looms large at two schools.
Checking in on new coaches getting their first wins at Connecticut, Louisville and Siena. Plus, Stephen F. Austin’s early-season woes, and looking at a big schedule coming up Friday.
Some games just need to be played between schools that are in the same geographic area, and we got one of them on Wednesday night. Plus the Bison aren’t going away quietly, and a couple of injuries come into play including one that will end a player’s season.
Notes on the opening night of college basketball, which was essentially for diehards only after being buried by poor decision-making that set the season’s start date on…Election Night? The night did include a few upsets and some individual standouts amidst a mass of buy games.
Another season beckons, and this one after an eventful off-season. Plus one of two suspensions has some up in arms, a heart condition has thankfully been handled, and a Buckeye leaves just ahead of the season start.
