Memphis coach Josh Pastner has added Jack Murphy, a scout for the Denver Nuggets, to the Tigers’ staff as an assistant coach. Pastner worked with Murphy when they were at Arizona.

The NCAA will not require schools to pay $900-$1,800 in membership dues for 2009-10 to help them reduce costs during the recession. The Executive Committee decided to suspend the dues for all members of Division I, II and III.

Arkansas has suspended guard Marcus Britt indefinitely following his weekend arrest for driving while intoxicated. The Times-Herald reported that the 21-year-old was stopped at 2:40 a.m. Saturday after running a stop sign.

Tennessee junior forward Wayne Chism might have violated rules for student-athletes by appearing in a series of videos with friend Mike Norton, who owns All Pro Truck Tire Service. In the videos, Chism wears a shirt bearing the tire company’s logo.

Xavier forward Derrick Brown has decided he will remain in the NBA Draft instead of returning to the Musketeers for a fifth season and final year of eligibility. He averaged 13.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
