Western Carolina freshman guard Greg Avery announced that he will leave the Catamounts for Division II Findlay, Ohio. Avery averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel has dismissed junior forward Juan Pattillo from the team for violating team policies. Pattillo averaged 5.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game.

Mississippi has signed Indiana transfer guard Nick Williams to play for the Rebels in 2010-11. Williams left Indiana after his freshman season, in which he averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Connecticut has only two full-time employees working on NCAA compliance issues for the Huskies’ athletic teams — the smallest compliance office in the Big East. Connecticut has come under fire in recent months for recruiting violations.

New Georgia coach Mark Fox has hired Stacey Palmore as an assistant coach. Palmore comes to Athens from Virginia Tech, where he worked for coach Seth Greenberg since 2004.

Campbell officials have decided to leave the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2010 to join the Big South Conference. The Fighting Camels were a founding member of the Big South but joined the Atlantic Sun less than a decade later.

Southern Miss junior guard Jeremy Wise announced that he will sign with an agent, ending his collegiate eligibility. Wise apparently likes his projections for the NBA Draft and will not return for his senior season after averaging 16.7 points and 4.7 assists per game.

Michigan coach John Beilein has agreed to be the chairman of a new panel on ethics to review rules and educate coaches to minimize the number of incidental violations.
