Colorado State has added former Iowa State freshman guard Wes Eikmeier to the roster. Eikmeier averaged 2.9 points per game in his one season with the Cyclones.

Former Toledo forward Anton Currie pleaded not guilty to charges related to an alleged gambling scheme. According to the charges, Currie participated in a points shaving scheme that benefited Ghazi “Gary” Manni and Mitchell Karam, who bet more than $400,000 on Toledo games.

Maine associate coach Mike Burden has resigned after he was charged with unlawful sexual assault of a 21-year-old member of the women’s soccer team and assault of another woman who tried to help the soccer player.

USC coach Tim Floyd gave $1,000 to an associate of former Trojan guard O.J. Mayo, who now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, said Louis Johnson, who formerly associated with Mayo.

Arkansas junior forward Michael Washington told a Little Rock TV station that he will return to school, although he has not completed the paperwork that officially removes him from the NBA Draft. He averaged 15.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.

A Louisville woman was indicted today on federal charges of extortion of Louisville coach Rick Pitino. Karen Cunagin Sypher, 49, is the estranged wife of Tim Sypher, a member of Pitino’s staff and a longtime friend.

President Barack Obama hosted the national champions at the White House Monday, capping a victorious 2008-09 season for North Carolina. The team toured the White House and met with the president.

Mississippi State junior forward Jarvis Varnado has removed his name from the NBA Draft to return to the Bulldogs for his senior season. Varnado averaged 12.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game.

Virginia Tech sophomore guard Hank Thorns announced that he will leave the Hokies to transfer to another school. Thorns averaged 2.7 points and 2.4 assists in 18.9 minutes per game.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino said in an official statement that he is not interested in taking the Sacramento Kings’ coaching position, despite reports that his representatives recently contacted the Kings. The rumor mill has worked overtime during the past few days about who is talking to whom about the Kings’ coaching position.
