The Missouri Valley Conference had a nice day on Sunday, which can make things a little better late in the non-conference game. Plus another thriller in Las Vegas, and the Cougars run away from a visiting team that didn’t have a good night shooting the ball.
Kansas played its first true road game of the season Saturday night at Arizona State. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the Jayhawks lost. Plus, Saturday’s top individual performances including a unique double-double by Old Dominion’s Aaron Carver and ETSU wins the venerable Sun Bowl Invitational:
The last full day of action before Christmas saw action in a couple of tournaments, a few rivalry games, one conference reversing fortunes against another, and a couple of conferences still struggling while one out west remains a pleasant surprise.
In our latest podcast, we see non-conference play drawing to a close before long and start with a couple of teams losing their first game of the season. Yes, that is correct: Buffalo won at Syracuse, and it was not an upset. Plus a newly revived rivalry has some gasoline thrown on it, more in the saga of a fired Husky alum and coach, and a Wildcat will be out for a lot of conference play.
Arizona State started strong, but it was all downhill from there as Vanderbilt topped the ranked Sun Devils at Memorial Gym. Plus, Gardner-Webb continues recent history of beating big boys.
