The Holiday Festival has the same venue as it has for years, but the format and some of the teams have changed. The game between local rivals saw St. John’s basically run Fordham out of the building.

UMass continues good start and shows some maturity
UMass improved to 3-0 on Sunday after letting Youngstown State hang around for a while. The Minutemen continue their good start, led by Chaz Williams, and certainly can get even better than what they have already shown.
Rhode Island bounces back, though it took some time
Rhode Island took more than a half to get going against North Carolina A&T. The game, like their season, wasn’t a success-only journey, but had some encouraging signs going forward that all came in the second half.
If Lalanne reaches his potential, UMass can as well
Chaz Williams makes UMass go, and that was the case in their season opener on Sunday. But if this team is to reach their potential, Cady Lalanne will play up to his potential, and on Sunday he gave a glimpse of what that might look like.
URI will be improved but something of a mixed bag for now
Year two under Dan Hurley is now here at Rhode Island, and the Rams will certainly be improved. Just how much better remains to be seen, although there is potential for the improvement to be more than significant.
For George Mason, moving to the Atlantic 10 has advantages
George Mason is the new kid on the block in the Atlantic 10 this year. There are obvious advantages at first glance, but there are some less obvious pluses for the program as well.
