The first semifinal matchup in the 2K Sports Classic between Boston College and Connecticut brought back memories of some of the last battles these two waged in their Big East days. This one was every bit as good as some of those old battles.

Tuesday night was an opportunity for Boston College. The Eagles took advantage of it, and in beating a team fresh off a big win and looking for NCAA Tournament momentum, they look more like a team growing up right in front of us.

With a five-game losing streak, Boston College really needed a win. The Eagles appeared to be on their way to a comfortable win against Clemson, but had to hang on at the end after running out to a 20-point lead with less than ten minutes left.

A year ago as ACC play beckoned, Boston College was 5-9 and lost their last two games. This time around, the Eagles will enter ACC play with an 8-5 mark and a five-game winning streak. The bottom line is just the beginning of what’s different this time.
Anderson, guards lead BC past Friars
Boston College, paced by a monster game by sophomore Ryan Anderson (24 points and seven boards), held off Providence to take an entertaining 71-68 affair in front of 6,102 Saturday afternoon at Conte Forum.
