After higher seeds routinely won the first couple of days, the Missouri Valley Conference highlighted a day where several lower seeds won. Plus one more regular season title has been clinched, a blueblood disagrees with some allegations levied against them, and the show will go on for one school next week.
We just had one of the few truly wild Saturdays of the season thus far, in a season that has been full of surprises and unpredictability, and it happened from start to finish. Plus, a big announcement of a doubleheader to be played in London.
The Ivy League is looking a little different than expected, with only one of the top three preseason picks among the top three at the midway point. Plus the leaders win in a couple of other mid-major leagues, the MAAC continues to be a tight race, and one MAAC coach will be sticking around a little longer.
Not many results were all that surprising on Wednesday night, but one in the American Athletic Conference was a big surprise. Plus little separation remains in a couple of conferences, suspensions are handed out, and a powerhouse in one conference takes a big injury hit.
It hasn’t exactly been a storybook season for one Midwest program with a new head coach, but there may still be a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Plus a program-best season continues to take shape, and a few other results on a light day of action.
It’s early yet, but on the first full day of Atlantic 10 play, things largely held to form and that also meant a few road wins. Plus the home team comes out on top in a rivalry game, and a stunner in the Pac-12 before a blowout later on.
It doesn’t happen often, but a visiting team won in John Paul Jones Arena, and they now will be interesting to track from an NCAA Tournament perspective. Plus the Diamond Head Classic gets underway and ends with a good one, and the Lobos will be down two starters for the time being.
Oklahoma State continued what has been a pretty good week for the Big 12 in winning tournaments, though they are being chased. Plus a great week for a first-year coach, the Blue Demons remain undefeated, and a late game was as good as advertised.
Tennessee may have a very different look, but the Volunteers appear to be in fine shape if Saturday’s result is any indication. Plus a nice road win for a mid-major favorite, and a few other interesting results on a day dominated by football.
It was a bad night to be a basketball fan in one hotbed state. Really bad. Plus a wild night was busy in the Big Ten, the Hawks continue to struggle, and the Wildcats win another despite losing a key reserve for a while.
