NIT: TCU routs Georgia Tech for the title
TCU routed Georgia Tech in the NIT final, which came as a surprise. It was also an indicator of the team’s progress over the course of the season, especially of late.

TCU just completed a renaissance season, one where it was one of the most surprising teams in the country. It even finished that season with a championship. And as much as the focus deserves to be on its feats this year, it’s mighty hard even now to not be already thinking about the Horned Frogs’ future next year.
NIT Notebook: Georgia Tech and TCU to the finals
The NIT is down to two teams after the semifinals. The coach of one of those teams never imagined his team would be here back in the fall.

The championship game for the 80th annual National Invitation Tournament is set, and in a postseason marked by pleasant surprises advancing deep, it’s maybe only fitting that two of the biggest surprises of the entire season will square off to settle this venerable event.

The NIT is down to four teams who will meet in New York, and one of them will become a champion for the first time, though one coach has led a program to the title twice.
