Boston University won its first Patriot League championship, and the long haul for their coach has the desired result at last. Plus many tournaments get going, one postseason event won’t happen at all, and a coach takes ill during a season-ending loss.
The first two NCAA Tournament bids went out after dramatic finishes in championship games to set the stage. Plus a long day of tournaments ends with a thrilling back-and-forth between two star guards, a surprise champion in the ACC and a three-way tie atop the Big East.
Another long losing streak has come to an end, and against an unlikely opponent as well. Plus a tale of two halves in the ACC, some big shooting in the Big East and one Big Ten game, and a Big 12 team is finally on the board as well.
Is North Carolina turning a corner all of a sudden, and before Cole Anthony comes back? Plus a tough road loss in the Big Ten, one team stays winless in its conference, and a key Wolverine will be missing on Tuesday.
There might not have been many games on the schedule for Sunday, but it was quite a day with some big results. Plus a second home loss for one team, a few other games stand out, and a coach wasn’t able to go on Saturday.
All four teams in the NIT Season Tip-Off appeared to have a real chance to emerge victorious, and it was one that left there with two impressive wins. Each team had something to take away, with the team that lost twice having a lot to work on.
Ole Miss was unable to have a comeback win two games in a row in Brooklyn, getting annihilated in the championship game by undefeated Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State continued what has been a pretty good week for the Big 12 in winning tournaments, though they are being chased. Plus a great week for a first-year coach, the Blue Demons remain undefeated, and a late game was as good as advertised.
Two Big 12 programs got big wins on Wednesday and hope each is a sign of better things to come. Plus more tournament action includes a few other championship games, a Tiger will be out as long as first thought, and wrist injuries sideline a couple of key veterans.
