Not many results were all that surprising on Wednesday night, but one in the American Athletic Conference was a big surprise. Plus little separation remains in a couple of conferences, suspensions are handed out, and a powerhouse in one conference takes a big injury hit.
A great season to date had a day with two unfortunate events, one on and one off the court, that one can only hope won’t sap all the joy from the season. Plus a legendary coach passes on, another incident in a big road win, and one team stays undefeated while another rebounds from a bad loss.
In a short time, a lot changed at Clemson without even considering the football team’s tough night on Monday night. Plus a dramatic ending in the Big Ten seems par for the course, an injured star looks just fine in a big win, and the Buckeyes and Jayhawks win while short-handed.
The remarkable work Scott Drew has done at Baylor continues with a nice road win on Tuesday night. Plus some key results in the Big Ten, road teams rule the SEC, and a Big East team is now finding its stride.
In a Big East opener, a team that was expected to be pretty good was just that down the stretch to get a key road win. Plus a tough team to figure out down south, road teams are winning early in one conference, and a few other notable results include a milestone win.
We look back at the Diamond Head Classic championship, with the winner clearly trending upward, and then back to a busy Saturday. Included in that Saturday was a blueblood losing two in a row through offensive struggles, and then we talk about a departed big man.
Another team atop the polls went down on Saturday, continuing the wild season we have had with conference play still mostly to come. Plus the Jayhawks lose more than a game and the Volunteers lose a key player who was no small part of their recent rise on a very busy Saturday.
The Big Ten/ACC Challenge is in the books, with the Big Ten winning and two ACC teams having scoring challenges. Plus a reversal of result in one rivalry, a big win for a team that’s had a tough few days, and one more team remains undefeated.
In a season where even the best teams are very capable of losing games to teams they shouldn’t, one team almost did twice and then won a tournament in impressive fashion. Plus a tournament runner-up is without a few players, a few helpers were handed out without scoring, and a few other results as the tournaments finish up.
One of the last games of the night was all we could hope for and more, and also leaves one hopeful about future matchups between the two teams. Plus more tournaments get going, a straw breaks the camel’s back with transfer waivers, and a Wildcat is gone from the program.
