Watching Wisconsin this season, one gets the feeling that the Badgers could shut it down right now and cancel the rest of their regular season schedule, get some rest, get a good start on second semester homework, eat some brats on State Street, and then begin playing again in March and still be a favorite to make a Final Four run.

What looked like it should’ve been the game of the night wasn’t much of a game at all. Iowa State sometimes gets on those offensive runs at home when it looks like one of the top five teams in the country, and the Cyclones did it Thursday night in a 95-77 win over Arkansas. A game that looked to have a ton of promise coming in was never really close, and the Razorbacks were tagged with their first loss in seven games.

Holiday tournament basketball tipped off on Thursday, one of the many things we can give thanks for over the upcoming holiday. Though perhaps not too much thanks. The proliferation of large, eight-team in-season tourneys has been a boon for teams looking to get in an extra three games over their NCAA schedule limit each season, but it also has played a part in watering down the importance of such tournaments as a whole.
Baylor is clearly third in the Big 12
Baylor was thought by some to be a Final Four or national title contender. With four losses to Kansas and Missouri, the Bears are quite clearly not the best in their own conference right now.
A much-needed road win for West Virginia
It might not have been apparent for much of the game, but West Virginia needed a win on Sunday afternoon. The Mountaineers got it, but not without some consternation as they trailed for much of the game and needed overtime for an 87-84 win over host Providence.

Big East has some close calls but remained unscathed — until today
The Big East entered Nov. 15 as one of four conferences with no blemishes in the loss column. Of course, Kent State changed that against West Virginia by noon.
